JOB SUMMARY
Performs clerical and office support for the Cardiology department. Responsible for professional performance and decision making in accordance with the clinical, fiscal, and organizational objectives of the department and hospital.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma
- One-year clerical experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in word processing, data entry, multiple line phone systems, photocopier, and facsimile machine skills
- Good communication skills
- Must maintain confidentiality of patient information
JOB DUTIES
- Demonstrates the Louis A Weiss Customer Service Values, which are key in providing quality service to patients and customers.
- File Maintenance: Maintains patient radiographic film files and file system, ensuring films, reports and related data are correct, accurate and up to date.
- Clerical Duties: Prepares films to be interpreted, pulls previous and assembles record according to department guidelines. Releases records with proper authorization, assists and responds to information requests, copies, etc. Schedules examinations in correct sequence. Processes requisitions, verifying information. Collates and insures delivery of department related paperwork, IE hand delivery, fax, mail. Accurately completes computer and paperwork functions. Receives and relays information, screens, and routes telephone calls.
- Patient Care: Schedules and received patients, provided explanations of schedules, preparations and/or procedures according to department guidelines.
- Support: Maintains appropriate work environment, ensures adequate supplies and proper equipment function for work area. Evaluates equipment and supplies.
- Safety: Ensures the safety of visitors, co-workers, and property, including the safekeeping and maintenance of confidential information. Participates in related annual reviews.
- Communication: Utilizes good communication skills in daily interactions with physicians/unit/hospital personnel. Fosters an atmosphere, which stimulates staff to demonstrate Pride Values and quality service.
- Actively participates in QA, QC procedures including maintaining logs and communication results.
