Scheduling Coordinator - Surgery

JOB SUMMARY
Under guidance and supervision, the associate performs reception, billing, scheduling, charge and data entry, insurance pre-authorization, verification and benefit coordination, filing, record keeping and other duties for one or more areas within Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma
- Able to communicate with patients, family and staff in a professional, friendly manner
- Proven working relationship with surgeons and other clinical professionals
- Experience with patient/staff education
- Strong detail-orientation and follow-up capacity
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- Demonstrated success in relationship building
- Customer service focused
- Strong data analysis skills
- Experience in achieving results and working with process management.
JOB DUTIES
- Schedules and preauthorizes surgeries and specialized procedures for the physician/medical practice including the scheduling of follow up appointments in the office
- Scheduler reviews pre-op tests required, medications, allergies, and medical history with patient
- Understands insurances and manages pre-certifications required for obtaining benefits
- The Surgical Scheduler must be able to respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding scheduling changes/cancellations in a timely, accurate manner
- Scheduler will multitask and handle obstacles with outstanding customer service skills
- Explains billing process to patients, answers incoming inquiries from patients and third-party payers
- Works with others to solve relatively simple problems
- Assists staff with sending out reminder cards and other scheduling duties; assists with basic account maintenance activities
